Message from J&G Sales........
DUE TO EXTREMELY HIGH ORDER VOLUME WE ARE RUNNING 10-14 DAYS BEHIND ON SHIPPING ORDERS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE. Ugh IN other news, my ammunition from AIM finally ships out after 2 weeks of waiting for my order to process........1 Case of 8mm on its way = food for my MG ! Yum. :emotions16: |
Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread

Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
The dealers I am speaking with are telling me the opposite. They are afraid they may have over ordered. One guy has 400 ARs coming in and only 40 people on the wait list. Additionally they say to wait 2-3 weeks and don't over pay right now because supply will be large in about 2-3 weeks.
My opinion is that he is underestimating the wave of buyers that will come in early 2009. To counter that point a store called a friend, said they had 12 new ARs arrive. He was there within 20 mins and they were already gone. So who knows. |

Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
Local shops are busy, but not to the extent of online vendors. I was in one yesterday and they had plenty of evil assault rifles on the rack as well as more in the back. Hell, they even had a few Saiga 12's.
I personally think that this buying rush will die out after a few months. |

It will reach a crescrendo come January........many are expecting him to announce something about guns in his acceptance speech and it might taper off when it looks like all that Obama rehtoric will seem like a dud. But you mark my words: He going to move against the gun community in the first 100 days..... the Gubbermint is STRAPPED for cash and there is no way he is going to pass up on a "Firearm safety surcharge " on all guns and ammo changing hands. Its just too easy. T |

Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
After an inventory of some of my reloading supplies last night, I've decided I need to order more bullets. I seem to be good on powder and primers, but short on some calibers of bullets. I need especially .30 cal and some more .380. Been buying .380 bullets even though I've not gotten the dies yet. Midway order very soon! At gun shows and Wal*Mart I pick up a few boxes of ammo just to build up my inventory. A lot of this is to be moved off sight to a remote location soon.

Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
Just out of curiosity, starting with a clean bench how much outlay would a man need to get started reloading similar handgun loads (i.e. 9mm, 380, 38, 357)?
I've never seen reloading as being economically ideal as I value my time over my money (nevermind my post count). I figured a box of bullets cost less than the component, equipment and my time to load them. I'm beginning to see the beauty of loading but I don't really care to research the subject if it is financially infeasible to actually execute. Assuming I could swing the equipment and components I'd still have to assess that priority over other preps. |
Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
I was at walmart buying some ammo and was chatting with the clerk . I asked him if there was a lot of ammo being sold, he told me a few hours earlier someone bought $6000 worth of .22s . I did the math and thats about 240,000 rounds. What the hell is someone going to do with that many rounds of .22s .

Gift them Sell them Barter them All of the above. Seriously, a group of match shooters could chew through that in a weekend. That's a lot of little leads, though. |
Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
I've been contemplating loading as well. Just found an add in the local ads "complete rifle reloading eq. $1500 value for $500." Sounds tempting but it depends on what quality the equipment is. What do ya'll think?

The other thing, I bought a 6.5x55 Swede Mauser, could not find any place locally at the time that carried that ammo. Didn't matter to me since I had already added to my die set to include .308. So, all I needed then was to add was the dies for the 6.5x55. BTW, if you intend to load for the .357 mag those dies will also load the .38 Special. Same with .44 mag and .44 spl. If your time is worth more to you than any savings, and you don't care about cost or you do not shoot all that often, then you probably shouldn't take the time to learn how to reload. It's just a matter of your choice and I'd not encourage you to take up what I consider a new "hobby". For me, once I enter the world of rolling my own, I was hooked and figure I actually got better ammo because I was able to fine tune for the gun I was using it in instead of accepting what is available. |
Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
Guns? What guns? Nobody here has any guns. Or ammunition. Nothing to see here. Move along please.

Re: And the CRAZINESS continues.......buying frenzy thread
There is no gun-buying frenzy.
It's a silly myth concocted by bitter Sarah Palin followers. |
